HGTV Reveals Who Pays for the Furniture on ‘Love It or List It’

Ultimately, it’s up to the homeowner in the end.

While decisions vary from episode to episode; from moving to staying; what always remains the same is the fact that Hilary knows how to outfit a house with gorgeous furniture. But fans can’t help but wonder: Do the homeowners actually get to keep everything? And who buys the furniture in the first place?

While there hasn’t been an official release on the matter, there’s a popular HGTV subreddit that discusses the very topic.

“I read that the furniture is staging and the clients do not get to keep it. Maybe they use some of the [client’s] furniture, if they like it,” Redditor RickWest495 wrote.

That’s pretty accurate, according to News & Record. An HGTV rep reportedly told the website: “The homeowners always pay for the renovation and they are given the opportunity to purchase the furnishings and décor used for the staging. What they don’t purchase is removed from the home.”
